Dutch conductor Antony Hermus is back in New Zealand to conduct the Auckland Philharmonia this Thursday night.
Antony Hermus is Chief Conductor of the Belgian National Orchestra, and Principal Guest Conductor of Opera North in the UK. He’s Honorary Conductor for Life of the North Netherlands Orchestra, and has a continuing Mahler Symphony Cycle with that orchestra. He’s incredibly busy as a guest conductor and music educator; he’ll be back with the Belgian National Orchestra next month, including a tour to Korea.
Hermus has an infectiously positive approach to music and life. RNZ Concert host David Morriss experienced some of that enthusiasm when he recently caught up with the conductor.
"Music (in my case, classical music) lifts the spirits, brings really something special to people... I feel kind of a mission to bring that to everybody I know."
