A new era for American Vogue

From Culture 101, 12:32 pm on 14 September 2025

It's a new era at American Vogue with a new editor announced to take over from Dame Anna Wintour. Chloe Malle will step in to the top position after 14 years at the publication. The 39-year-old started as a social media editor in 2011. She also hosts the magazine's podcast, The Run Through. Malle is the daughter of French film director Louis Malle, and actress Candice Bergen, who ironically played the Vogue editor in TV series Sex and the City. But despite being at the helm for 37 years, Dame Anna isn't leaving the building entirely. She'll remain as chief content officer for publisher Condé Nast, overseeing Vogue's content along with other titles including GQ, Tatler and Wired.

Closer to home, Fashion Quarterly's editor-in-chief and owner, Sarah Murray, has been following the announcements and speaks to Culture 101 about the new changes at the iconic fashion magazine.
