Kaukapapa is a 40-minute drive North-West of Tāmaki Makaurau, and a gateway to the Kaipara.
In Spring it's a great place to visit for both art and gardens. On the line to Culture 101 from the Kaipara Coast Plant Centre and Sculpture Gardens is David Bayly. They have a one-kilometre long sculpture trail with over 40 selected works, which change annually. There are also longer tracks offering views of the harbour
The park will feature in the upcoming Arts in the Ville trail (25-27 October) and they're also part of a wider sculpture garden network. 12 minutes drive away is the renowned Gibbs Farm, which you can visit during fundraisers like the CYC Trust's on Thursday Sept 25 and the Helensville A and P Show's on Friday 17 October.
David also notes some great environmental restoration work you can appreciate locally: like Manaia Farm, where Kiwi are breeding, and CUE Haven just beyond Gibbs Farm on State Highway 16.
