50 years of moral panic leading to drug harms - Michael Baker
50 years since US president Richard Nixon began the so-called "War on Drugs", with his declaration that narcotics were "public enemy number one." Professor Michael Baker, newly appointed to the board of the New Zealand Drug Foundation, argues that mindset has infected New Zealand policy and led to decades of misery for addicted people and their communities. He wants the current law to be torn up, and for decriminalisation to be looked at urgently. Professor Baker speaks to Perlina Lau.
