The ACT Party wants New Zealand to adopt the Taiwanese approach to quarantine - where new arrivals are allowed to isolate in privately-run facilities such as AirBnBs.
ACT's leader David Seymour says New Zealand's government-run isolation hotels are expensive, disruptive and ineffective.
In Taiwan, people can quarantine at hotels, Air BnBs, or a private home, but are electronically monitored and face steep penalties for breaches.
