A man has been charged in relation to a homicide in Ōtāhuhu, Auckland.
Emergency services were called to a house on Beatty Street about 8.30pm on Sunday, after reports a person had been seriously injured, police said.
Police found the man in a critical condition and he was taken to hospital where he died from his injuries overnight.
"Our teams are working hard to identify and locate the person responsible and are asking anyone who saw what happened, who has not yet spoken to us, to please get in touch," Detective Inspector Karen Bright said on Monday morning.
"Those involved are believed to be known to each other and we do not believe there is any ongoing risk to the wider community."
On Monday afternoon, police said officers had taken a man into custody.
Detective Inspector Karen Bright announced on Tuesday morning a 31-year-old man had been charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and will appear in Manukau District Court.
"This is a great result and Police haven't ruled out the possibility of further charges," Detective Inspector Bright said.
Birght said the investigation remains ongoing.
