Emergency services were at the scene of a burst water main in the Auckland suburb of Avondale overnight.
Water shot from the main on Rosebank Road and hit a lamppost, Fire and Emergency said.
Crews went there about 12.30am on Tuesday, cordoned off the area and investigated the extent of the flooding.
They left about three hours later.
Auckland's water provider Watercare said it had restored supply to nearly 40 properties affected by the burst pipe.
