Police have charged a 24-year-old man after a person was injured and a gun was fired outside an Auckland supermarket.

Officers were called to the carpark at Hobsonville Woolworths at at 4.40pm on Tuesday.

Police say the gun was fired towards a car and nobody was hit, but separately a man was injured.

A 24-year-old Auckland man has been charged with wounding with intent and reckless discharge of a firearm.

He was due to appear in the Waitakere District Court on Wednesday.

Police believe it was an isolated incident but said they are still working to identify any other offenders.
