A man has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm after a person was critically injured in Christchurch on Tuesday morning.
Emergency services were called to a Sparks Road property at 2.30am.
Police say a 24-year-old man has been arrested and charged in relation to the assault.
He will appear in the Christchurch District Court on Wednesday.
The victim is now in a stable condition in hospital.
