Remy's owner says it's the 10-month-old Spoodle's first Guy Fawkes and he's definitely not sure about it, but he's safe at home listening to the concert with humans to keep him company. Photo: Supplied
Pets around the country are chilling out to RNZ's annual Guy Fawkes Night Concert for Animals.
All the music has been chosen to calm pets inside on Guy Fawkes night in case they're spooked by the loud noises and flashes of light.
The show will include music written for animals such as 'Mina' by Edward Elgar for his beloved Cairns terrier. 'The Swan' from Carnival of the Animals by Camille Saint-Saëns and 'Scene by the Brook' from Beethoven's Pastoral. We haven't forgotten farm animals either, with 'Sheep May Safely Graze', by Johann Sebastian Bach.
Here's how some of the pets have been reacting.

Thank you from my bunnies Jasper (white and grey) and Piper (ginger) in Auckland. Piper isn’t fazed by the fireworks but our tripod boy Jasper is, normally he’s hiding in his tunnel trembling but tonight he’s chilling and even eating. Photo: Supplied
This is Nellie from Eastbourne. A month ago she got spooked by a freak, ferocious thunderstorm. She was then missing for nearly 2 weeks in the bush in the hills behind Eastbourne. We are very lucky she came back though exhausted and very thin. We are anxious to prevent another escape as she also hates fireworks, so she’s listening to the special concert programme. My darling cat Rocket and I are currently sitting under the bed where she feels safest while the houses on either side of us are setting off fireworks. She and I have been tuned into Guy Fawkes Night Concert for Animals while we go forward into the evening. Photo: Supplied
Hazel the cavoodle and feline brothers Jack and Alex. Their owner says all have been pacing, vocal and anxious during the fireworks. I’ve now got your relaxing music playing in our room and it’s let Hazel cuddle up and relax. Alex has joined us to listen and relax too. Hopefully Jack will join us for cuddles and calmness soon.
