A two-vehicle crash on Auckland's Southern Motorway has led to a chemical spill on Friday afternoon.

The crash, involving a truck, happened at the Great South Road northbound on-ramp in Pōkeno.

Fire and Emergency said five fire trucks are in attendance.

It said the chemical spilled is formic acid. The substance is used for industrial purposes and is corrosive.

Police said there are no reports of injuries, but the road had to be closed due to the spill.

Motorists are being advised to expect delays.
